Apple is preparing for the launch of its upcoming Vision Pro headset by scheduling two-day Vision Pro training sessions for retail employees.
The Vision Pro is inching closer and closer to a full launch with the start of training sessions for Apple Store employees.
As Bloomberg reports, Apple is now scheduling two-day classes to start sometime in January 2024. The pricey headset will reportedly only be available in stores so buyers can be guided through the setup process, which includes getting a custom fit on the device.
A proper fit is important because the Vision Pro is fairly heavy. Its size and weight could cause neck strain, which may be exacerbated by a bad placement. Apple is already working on this problem for the next generation of the Vision Pro, according to reports.
9to5Mac reports Apple Stores are now receiving „new equipment to assemble and box up“ Vision Pro headsets. Bloomberg says Apple expected the launch of the device to happen sometime in January, but it may not happen until March.
Apple took a similar approach the last time it waded into a new product category with the Apple Watch, which required in-store appointments when picking up the smartwatch.
The first-gen Vision Pro is being targeted at developers and enterprise customers, though anyone can purchase one. Those who spend that $3,499 will be able to tap into the „spatial video capture“ that rolled out today via iOS 17.2 for iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, which have cameras powerful enough to record videos in three dimensions.
